La Brecha – Las Cacharras 2018

The 2020 Las Cacharras reveals a mixture of red and black berry fruit, flowers and herbs and very chalky tannins. It has depth, concentration and elegance. It was produced with grapes from very small plots of 80- to 120-year-old vines in the villages of La Aguilera, Atauta and Gumiel de Izán, where there’s a field blend of Tempranillo with Garnacha, Bobal, Albillo, Pirulés and others. It fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts and aged in 300-liter French oak barrels for one year. It develops beautiful notes of decayed violets with time in the glass.

The wines from La Brecha are a breath of fresh air in Ribera del Duero. Produced with a much lighter hand in the ripeness, the extraction and the oaking, they are fragrant and perfumed, with freshness and easy to drink.
