The La Rasina 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Persante is a new wine from this estate, coming from a careful selection of fruit from its historic vineyards. Only 3,500 bottles were released. Compared to the classic Brunello from this same vintage, the Persante shows a greater frequency of aromatic high points and bright fruity accents. That fruit veers toward red cherry, but there are substantial dark and plummy aromas as well. These notes are nicely capped by spice, tar and black licorice. The Persante also has a more important tannic structure and sweet cherry flavors.
