94 poäng (2017), The Wine Advocate: The white 2017 Selma de Nin is their flagship white from the Pla de Manlleu zone of Penedès that they sell without appellation of origin. It’s a blend of 25% each Parellada Montonega, Roussanne, Marsanne and Chenin Blanc from 13-year-old vines on clay and limestone soils. The full clusters are pressed and left to macerate for 24 for hours, and one day later, when the juice has settled, it is put in 300-liter oak barrels where the wine fermented with the natural yeasts and matured slowly for eight months. They always keep the bottles for two to three years before it’s sold. 2017 was a warm and dry year that saw a very early harvest (August 26th to September 5th), and the wine has a moderate 12.5% alcohol and a low pH of 3.2. There were some reductive notes at first, but the nose is a lot more complex than that. It has good volume, some creaminess and pungent flavors and is very persistent. It’s long and tasty and always has a salty twist. This feels very young; it seems to be evolving slowly and should develop nicely in bottle. 2,340 bottles were filled.
