99 poäng (2016), The Wine Advocate: The rarity here is that it’s pure Garnacha, and they made their fame (mostly) with Cariñena, the grape that their village, Porrera, is also known for. But this amphitheater of 73-year-old plants is something magic. The whole clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts for about four weeks, and then the wine was transferred to a 225- and a 600-liter oak barrel for 17 months. It’s 15.13% alcohol but has a pH of 3.3, meaning it’s ripe and a little exuberant, but at the same time, it’s very fresh. Putting my nose in the glass was love at first sight, a true coup de coeur, as the aromas of wild flowers and herbs jumped out of the glass and grabbed me by the throat and wouldn’t let me go! It’s really complex, not shy at all, and it sings from minute one—very aromatic and with something wild, transporting me to the wilderness of the place that is full of life, fruit trees and vegetation. The palate reveals ultra fine tannins, dusty minerality, savory flavors and an endless finish. It’s a country boy that has some rusticity but great purity; it’s alive, vibrant and intense and has a strong personality. Really amazing wine. This is the stuff that dreams are made of! Grab it if you can! 1,056 bottles were filled in April 2018.
